The Munich Marathon passes the most beautiful stations that the city has to offer: It starts at the Olympic Park, then through the English Garden, past Bogenhausen's Art Nouveau villas to the Gasteig. The route leads over the Isar Bridge into the Glockenbachviertel to Gärtnerplatz, then into Sendlinger Strasse, across Marienplatz to the National Theater (Opera). The runners also pass the Residenz, the Pinakotheken, Odeonsplatz with the Theatinerkirche, Königsplatz, the Siegestor and Leopoldstrasse before returning to the finish at the Olympic Stadium.
